Source: “Obama controlled media during campaign”

Another entry from “The Big Book of ‘Duh’”.

Anyone with half a brain could see what Obama and the left were doing during the campaign.

This isn’t news. It’s history. Story here.

Hi Brennan-

I detect a note of sarcasm in your reply.

Why is Fox News any less reliable than, say, CNN or MSNBC?

Brennan, first, there is a video of it. Second, isn’t this what all campaigns try to do – control their message.

My only problem with this, is that one of his campaign themes was transparency. I thought that meant we were going to be allowed to see both the good and the bad as it happened. Now, by their own admission, we know that transparency means we get to see what they want us to see, when they want us to see it, and in the light they want to show it in. I get that all administrations have done this. It just seems like this one has taken it to the next level.

“The Project on Excellence in Journalism report in 2006 showed that 68 percent of Fox cable stories contained personal opinions, as compared to MSNBC at 27 percent and CNN at 4 percent. The “content analysis” portion of their 2005 report also concluded that “Fox was measurably more one-sided than the other networks, and Fox journalists were more opinionated on the air.”

A study by the Program on International Policy Attitudes (PIPA), in the Winter 03-04 issue of Political Science Quarterly, reported that viewers of Fox News, the Fox Broadcasting Company, and local Fox affiliates were more likely than viewers of other news networks to hold three misperceptions:

* 67% of Fox viewers believed that the “U.S. has found clear evidence in Iraq that Saddam Hussein was working closely with the al Qaeda terrorist organization” (Compared with 56% for CBS, 49% for NBC, 48% for CNN, 45% for ABC, 16% for NPR/PBS).

* The belief that “The US has found Weapons of Mass Destruction in Iraq” was held by 33% of FOX viewers and only 23% of CBS viewers, 19% for ABC, 20% for NBC, 20% for CNN and 11% for NPR/PBS

* 35% of Fox viewers believed that “the majority of people [in the world] favor the U.S. having gone to war” with Iraq. (Compared with 28% for CBS, 27% for ABC, 24% for CNN, 20% for NBC, 5% for NPR/PBS)

Brennen if people only got their news from Fox that would be one thing. We live in the information era, there are many places I get my news from.

I still want to know how a Christian can support what this President is doing.

Sue – I suppose I’m confused on what the President is doing that would be such a slap in the face to Christians. I mean, sure, there’s things all politicians do – but with every politician, some Christians like the guy, some can’t stand the guy. I, and a lot of other Christians, couldn’t see how people of faith would support Bush. Other people of faith loved Bush. Really, it isn’t that hard to figure out. There’s a lot of issues out there, and both sides have issues that they align more with Christian values than the other side. If your main Christian issue is limiting the rights of gays, then the right is the side for you. if your main value is healthcare for poor people, then the left is the side for you. It is tough because Jesus never came out and said “vote for the guy who wears the flag pin – he’s your man”.

Brennan if you can’t see what this President is doing that is “a slap in the face to Christians”……then you aren’t paying attention.

WE are supposed to take care of people, not the government.

So are you advocating we end Social Security and Medicare???

I don’t see the slaps in the face. I see a President working hard to make sure that families don’t go bankrupt if a kid gets cancer. I see a President working hard to make sure that a person isn’t locked into a job for life because if they move and try to advance in their career, it means they won’t get coverage for a pre-existing condition. And it is odd that the Republicans have lied (namely on what it would take for them to vote for a bill, and they keep moving the target) and fought harder against healthcare reform and expansion than really anything in recent memory.

A slap in the face? What would Jesus do – spend a trillion on bombing Iraq or on healthcare for the citizens?
