Reasons for McCain’s renewed confidence

27 10 2008

The Reuters / C-Span / Zogby poll numbers (not particularly friendly to the GOP) tell quite a story over the last week.

Polling data from “likely voters” from 10/21 through 10/23 gave Obama a 10-pt lead.

The same poll from 10/24 through 10/26 only had Obama up by 5 points….and showed that he’s actually LOSING ground!

The most recently conducted IDB / TIPP poll, the one that proved most accurate in the last general election, has Obama up 47% to 43%…which is within the 4-pt. margin of error!

GAME ON!

I was trying to figure out why McCain was exuding such confidence over the weekend.  Maybe he knows something the rest of us don’t!

Stay tuned……and strap yourselves in.  It could be a very interesting 8 days ahead!

Former ACORN worker admits fraud

23 10 2008

Story here.

I think it’s wonderful that he has confessed his indiscretion and paid his debt to society.

But did he have to tell his sordid story while wearing a KC Chiefs jersey and hat?  Don’t my beloved (and beleaguered) Chiefs have enough trouble right now?

Smile everyone…it’s a joke.

World Series pick ‘em contest

22 10 2008

 VS.

Sorry I’m late with this one.  All this posting is seriously cutting into my nap time.

Dave won the division series contest.

Driller and filler won the league championships contest.

Who will win the World Series contest?  Same prize as for the LCS.

Pick the Phils or the Rays, number of games (best of 7), and total runs scored by both teams.

Good luck and good bidding.

Fantasy football dilemma

22 10 2008

I’m in a keeper league with 7 other guys.

I have Peyton Manning, Donovan McNabb, and Trent Edwards as QB’s.

I’m stinking up the place halfway through our regular season (1-6).

I was offered a number one pick in next season’s draft in a trade for Peyton Manning (who I’m benching this week given his recent erratic play and as Indy is playing the vaunted Titans).

I’m thinking of making this deal.  What do you think?

Big churches better at making disciples?

20 10 2008

A recent study shows that individual members of larger churches (1000 attendance or more) are more doctrinally sound and more apt to engage their culture than are members of smaller churches (100 attendance or less).  Wow!

That goes against commonly held beliefs, no?

Check out the whole story here.  What do you think?

Denver Archbishop blasts Obama on abortion

19 10 2008

The whole AP story can be found here.

Some of the “highlights”….

Denver Roman Catholic Archbishop Charles Chaput labeled Barack Obama the “most committed” abortion-rights candidate from a major party in 35 years while accusing a Catholic Obama ally and other Democratic-friendly Catholic groups of doing a “disservice to the church.”

Chaput, without getting into much detail, called Obama the “most committed” abortion-rights major-party presidential candidate since the U.S. Supreme Court’s landmark Roe v. Wade decision in 1973 legalizing most abortions.

“To suggest — as some Catholics do — that Senator Obama is this year’s ‘real’ pro-life candidate requires a peculiar kind of self-hypnosis, or moral confusion, or worse,” Chaput said.

Well said!
