If I had a young family…the action at a minor league game would probably win hands down.
Compute the cost for a family of 4 or 5 at each venue–and it would also be a no-brainer (unless you were a wealthy Baptist pastor).
I heartily agree, when you combine the home town flavor of a minor league park with the countless fan inspired promotions and freebies, the minor league park wins hands down.
Now if it were Kaufman stadium…oh wait, there are more fans at Rent One than there are at Kaufman. (it hurt me to write that, but it’s so so true)
Having been to both 3 times this year, I have to say they are equally good times. But… I have a hard time, so far, getting as excited about The Miner’s games as a Cardinals game (except maybe when they’re playing the Pirates). Maybe the excitement will come with time. And although I’ve seen some bonehead moves at Busch, I doubt we will see Tony intentionally walk a batter when the count is already 1-2 like I saw Pinto do earlier this season.
I love minor league baseball…and as mentioned, it’s great for my young family.
But if it’s just me and the Mrs.–hands down–we are going to be ripples in the Sea of Red.
